teatime

there was a snowstorm last night and this morning i had to dig my way out to the shed in mum's backyard to get wood for the fireplace. and let me tell you, a cup of tea tastes great after that workout. Still have to dig the car out since Ariane invited us for tea at her Castle at the Eisenbach for the drawing challenge! we have so much catching up to do, oh, i've been away for far too long..

i never was afraid of the dark, of monsters hiding in closets or under the bed. i didn't believe in monsters. now i know they are everywhere. one goes by the name cancer. they told us this week mum's liver is inoperable.

i hit a rough patch on this rocky road (of everyday life) and ended up with cuts and bruises on my knees and on my soul. finding that balance isn't always easy.

drawing challenge: everyday life

Elizabeth is hosting the challenge this week: everyday life. i chose to illustrate this with my very own Dorothy slippers, this is me walking down my own Yellow Brick Road.

i was recently told my blog gives too rosy a picture of my everyday life. in the sense i wasn't being honest. i was a bit baffled by it and couldn't stop thinking about it. i keep this blog to focus on positive things, to inspire myself and hopefully others as well. i know you inspire me.
everyday life can be a stuggle at times, that's just the way it goes. and when life gives you lemons, you know..

the cup reminds me of my grandmother, of long childhood summers at their island summerhome. those hot endless days full of life, playing in the water, drawing, listening to the radio. ♥

the felt heart is one of many that used to hang in my boys room, i made them many many years ago, orange on one side and red on the other. ♥

äntligen har jag unnat mig en ny kamera! den gamla är inne på sina sista bilder och har krånglat länge så jag beslöt att lägga förra helgens vinst på en ny kamera, idag blev det av och jag är nu ägare till en lätt begagnad Nikon d40! nu måste jag bara fortsätta sy så jag får köpa alla tillbehör jag vill ha...


sorry! i signed up for the drawing challenge but i've been far too busy. but all items on the last pic (blogpost of may 21st) were made by my hand. i spent the money on a used camera today, yay!!!

my fishing trip in LEGO

i used the challenge of the week, hosted by Elizabeth, to illustrate my fishing trip a couple of weeks ago. It's a FISH! a big one. we had a great time and caught a lot of cod using bait my brother made, just look how happy he is!!!

it's been a crazy week with absolutely no time for drawing or painting but i took a long walk on a fine sunny spring day and went looking for puddles.

ordet för veckans drawing challenge var mirror/spegel. för mig blev det en bildkavalkad från min hemstad. äntligen kom våren med sina pölar!

Jasmin hosted the drawing challenge of the week: a tail. i didn't want to draw a cat but of course that's what i ended up doing. Say hi to one of our (3) beautiful black cats called Nippon. i wanted to use wax crayons for the window but i couldn't find any. so be it.

desperately hoping it won't be long 'til we see the first signs of spring here up north. it's the end of march and we still have a lot of snow. how many more weeks before spotting the first coltsfoot? a new challenge!

this is my first contribution to the Drawing Challenge. i used to draw a lot some twenty years ago and i've often thought about taking it up again but never quite got around to it.

i was so excited when i found this challenge over at Textilspanieln and i rushed over to Woolfenbell who's hosting the theme of the week to let her know i was joining.

kicking off with a positive Self-portrait. no dark circles under my eyes. no winter paleness. no worries. just a Soft Spring breeze and the Sun on my face. tell me you do find a letter of the alphabeth in there? oh, and those aren't stars, it's snow... we still get that over here...
